I write comedy, romance, and drama for television and feature film, and I am currently working on my debut romance novel. I have two commissioned romantic comedy features in development; one celebrates food, family, and culture with a backdrop of music; the other, co-written, follows three brothers who fall for the same woman, exploring loyalty, vulnerability, and the emotional risks of love. My novel continues this exploration of connection and self-discovery, offering a romance that is playful, emotionally textured, and full of life.

Alongside storytelling, I've spent eight years in advertising and media, creating branded editorial work for major UK household brands. That experience sharpened my instinct for audience and cultural impact, and continues to inform how I think about story.

At the heart of my work is a simple belief: joy matters. Romance is not trivial. And the stories we tell quietly influence the world we build.
Hi, I'm Funmi.
I am fascinated by how popular stories shape culture and the way we see ourselves. I believe stories do not simply reflect society, they help shape it.

This curiosity underpins everything I write, taking care in balancing the aspirational with the familiar. I am drawn to humour and romance, to the beautiful chaos of human connection, and to the ways love moulds us.

So, I write joy.

As a British Nigerian writer, I often centre black characters in my stories where their emotional lives, not their trauma, drive the narrative.
I am interested in relationships, identity, family, desire, and the quiet work of becoming. My characters are flawed, searching, and deeply human. Their conflicts are personal. Their growth is intentional.
